Day 16 A Small Gift To An Older Relative
My Aunt Dee is 83 years old and is becoming less and less able to get around. She is my father's older sister.She has really bad arthritis and has had to two surgeries for a brain anurysm in the last couple of years. I also suspect she's suffering from slight demensia. She lives in Denver so I don't get to see her very often. Last week she called me and asked why she hadn't heard from me in so long. She wasn't trying to put a guilt trip on me but I felt guilty that I hadn't taken the time to call her when I was thinking about her.
So I decided to put a calendar note to call her every Monday. Today was the first Monday and she was so delighted that I called as I had promised. I know how important it was that I called her instead of her calling me--a small but significant gift. This evening when I was thinking that I hadn't given a gift today I remembered the call to Aunt Dee.

I love that!! I think it's one of those things that are a small gift to you but HUGE to someone else.

We tend to forget sometimes that at 83 a phone call means more than money or any other gift. Huge blessings for calling her, I bet you the more you call her, they better she will feel.
