Day 16, hard to believe that I have kept up with a blog for this many days. It was actually sunny enough that when I went and drove off without my sunglasses, I was cussing myself out. Anyhoo--made it to therapy, and it was a good session.
He told me at the beginning of this 29 day project when I decided not to do it, that I wasn't to make him one of the giftees. HA! I gave him a Michaels 50% off coupon for his wife (she's as bad as me) and I burned him a cd set of the bollywood music. I told him it was a punishment for making me do an intake, but how can gifting someone with good music be bad?
I also had to go pick up a perscription at Giant Eagle and at the registers they have the slips for Harvest For Hunger month, and you peel off the $1, $5, or $10 and hand it to the cashier. The cashier asked the customer in front of me if he wanted to donate and he made this dismissive noise and hand motionl. I tore off two of the $1 and added it to my purchases. One from me, and one from in spite of him. We're talking a dollar! Most people throw that away in loose change in the parking lot. One out of every 4 children go to bed hungry every night, and this one person couldn't spare a dollar. And trust me, I will donate again the next time I shop.
My biggest gift though, from me and my husband, was to our next door neighbor. He lives with his mom and dad, works during the day, and snowplows during the winter. I can't tell you how many times the last ten years they have helped us out with shoveling, snow plowing, the last two weeks when Robert beat both me and my husband home, he took our trashcan from the curb to the back of our house along with his. We have been wanting to find a way to thank him and we got our taxes back from the state, and I suggested a gift card. My husband said good idea, but from where, and I said Dick's. The guy loves to camp and fish. So that is what I was buying at the store with my other purchases.
I picked out a card, (kind of girly) went next door and his dad answered the door (he is such a sweetie) and I asked him to give it to him. I was going to sneak it on hi windshield, but kind of hard to be sneaky with four feet of snow between driveways.
As my husband came home, Robert was at his truck, and my husband said he had the biggest smile on his face and looked really happy and kept saying thank you and how it would come in handy in four months when he goes fishing. Tim and I felt really good. I won't tell the amount, because the amount isn't important, but it was a little sacrifice, but worth it to thank a wonderful neighbor when wonderful neighbors are becoming scarce in this day and age.
Now, if I could only convine Frank (Robert's dad) that dandelions really are god's smiley faces and deserve a place in my yard!
