Today I wrote a letter to an Aunt and Uncle - I don't see them often and they were estranged from the family for many years. My uncle made a move to bridge the differences when he contacted me just before I moved to Melbourne (back in 1999). He had heard through my cousins that I was moving and thought he'd ring and find out what I was up to.
Initially I didn't believe it was him and thought that it was a client, who was a laugh, playing games. Not that my client knew details about my family, I just thought he was being silly as he'd call me and leave funny messages with my flat mates and my co-workers.
Anyway, I digress. I kept in contact with my Aunt and Uncle, and then my family and their family reconciled their differences. I try to visit them when I'm in Sydney but due to our last trip being a bit short, we didn't stop in. It's been a couple of years since we've seen them.
In my letter I sent them some photos of our house. They were always concerned about us buying property and I knew they'd be very happy that we bought our own place here in Hong Kong.
My letter will definitely be a surprise to them because with today's technology it's very rare these days for people to send letters or cards for that matter.
Blessings,
