OK----this is really a reach but today I found myself sitting at the dealership while my car was being serviced. Bored to death, I remembered that there was a small wine and cheese/gourmet shop I visited almost 25 years ago when I bought a small container of Tandori spice for the first time and have done the same from time to time over the years from other locations. It is a great Indian spice---not to hot and not too spicy which makes a great marinade when added to plain yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, and vinegar. You then add whatever meat---chicken, turkey, shrimp and marinate overnight---then grill.
Sorry to bore you but this is where the gift comes in---I ran out about six months ago and could not find it anywhere where I live.. I have a fantastic best friend who has always supported me in the good times and the not so good times. I ask her from time to time to dinner and when I ask what she would like---it is always the same---The Tandori. Well for the last 6 months I could not make the Tandori meal. So when I was holed up at the car dealership on Monday, I decided to hike out to see if by chance, after all of these years, they still had the spice. I searched the racks and found nothing but decided on my way out to ask the manager. He said yes, and led me to a place at the back of the store where I found 3 containers---I bought them all. Well this Thursday the Tandori meal is on and I am not only making the meal but gave my friend her own personal container on Monday just in case I run out again. Yum, Yum :)
