On Day 18, I took my coupon for a $10 eyebrow threading to a new salon that opened in the area. I had a hard time finding it, but once I did, I was pleasantly surprised. Not so much by the space itself, which could use some work, but by the delightful and friendly owner. She was by herself, which is usually the case when businesses are starting out. I am always trying to find new businesses to support. As some of you know, I have a soft spot in my heart for small business owners and entrepreneurs :)
As she was threading my brows, she told me the story of how she moved to the States just 5 years ago from India and how it was always her dream to open her own business. I have never seen such a passionate and detailed threader! It was such a simple service, but she did it with such care. I was very impressed.
I was her 4th customer of the day, and it was already 2pm. When I left, I took some business cards, gave her a hug and a little more in tip than I had planned.
I wanted to do something for her as my gift for the day. As soon as I got home, I emailed my girlfriends about my experience and told them to please go support her. A referral can be a powerful thing, especially for new businesses! I pray that her business grows, and that she stays passionate about her work.
