I drove up to my paretnts lake home to spend the weekend with them. My parents are about 77 years old and do what they can to keep the cabin going. My gift today was to help them with some of the big projects and run some errands with them.
My dad and I went to the hardware store and bought twenty 60 pound landscaping rocks and got them to the cabin. Then we went to the Verison store to help dad get a new cell phone. (He accidently went swimming with it). Next on the agenda was to swing by and pick up my brother-in-laws jetski from the repair shope. After lunch we put the jet ski in and then pulled my folks broken ski boat back to the landing. Helped my Dad get it out of the water and back to the cabin. We ended the day have a dinner at little pub in town.
I am realizing that I should spend a weekend a summer at the lake home helping with projects like this. It was a tough day as I see my parents getting old. Never saw them in that light before. Also realized that their marriage isn't all that healthy. You would think after 55 years of marriage you would be able to get along, but they are constantly bickering. Not much fun to be around.
More projects with them tomorrow.
