29-Day Giving Challenge

Well today was quite busy for me, tying up loose ends for the year. My husband has been after me lately to get some paperwork things accomplished. I have been putting it off and putting it off.....and putting it off some more. It had actually gotten to the point where it would sit in the back of my mind and make me feel anxious. So today, I decided I would attack the list and get some of the things done. I worked for a while on everything. As I worked and was able to cross things off the list, I felt a little more relieved.....and a little more relieved. I was happy that I could get these things done that my husband has wanted, and that I now was feeling less stress for having gotten them done. Win/win!

I had a big plan for my second day of giving. My friends son is visiting from Las Vegas with his new wife. My friend hates to cook! And when she does, it might actually ruin the food (ha, ha, ha C.M.). My gift for today was to cook up a big, homemade meal for everyone - with enough leftover that she would have something to eat another day.

I started my sauce in the morning so it could simmer all day. After my laborious tasks (the stuff we always put off and put off - all at once!) I prepared the home made meatballs (gluten free for me and regular for them) and cooked them up. Cooked the pasta, heated up the garlic bread and wa la - Italian dinner!

The kids arrived and, after letting them get their things in and settled, we sat down to a delicious meal. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food, my friend got to spend time with her kids as well as another friend she had invited over, my husband got to come home to a home cooked meal, already prepared and waiting for him. And my son got to have his favorite meal, pasta and meatballs!

There were times today where I felt like I might be too tired to get everything done. But I continued knowing that people were going to enjoy what I was doing and that it was my gift for the day. And as I sit here, post dinner, I feel more energized and happy that I was able to do it for them. I actually got a little more energy from having accomplished it.

I will be giving a gift to myself next.....I am going to finish the book I am reading and go to bed early!
There is another day of giving waiting for me tomorrow.

Until then....
