Day 2: Favors for My Father, Furry Creature, & Friend

  • Took pictures of my father's upcycled furniture to post on craigslist for his yard sale coming up.
  • Raked the leaves in the backyard with my boyfriend for the yard waste collection tomorrow. The simple gift of a clean lawn puts an ease on my father's mind and a smile on his face. Also worth noting: Such pretty colors in nature! The golden yellow, bright red, and warm brown of the leaves were lovely on the eye~ Leave it to Mother Nature to provide us with these visual treats.
  • Gave my kitty a nice pet-session, even though I felt like she had an unfounded personal vendetta on me all morning! One of the agreements of Don Miguel Ruiz's book that my counselor recommended I read entitled "The Four Agreements" is: Don't take anything personally. While it is very hard for me to do this, particularly when it seems as though my kitty is out to get me :P, I found that forgiving when it's not easy is one of the most touching & heart-warming gifts you can give. And what can I say, kitties will misbehave~
  • One of my friends has being going through a rough time lately. We've been there for each other, encouraging each other to remain positive throughout the past year, as we both know what it's like to feel as though you are on your own. I thought it might be nice to pop her a message on her Facebook wall. Just a little surprise burst of positivity. It's a quote I have pinned onto a corkboard in the center of my desk where I can see it often: "Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Look at the sunny side of everything & make your optimism come true. Think only of the best & expect only the best. Forget the mistakes of the past & press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. Live in the faith that the whole world is on your side as long as you are true to the best that is in you!" ~Christian D. Larson
