Day 20 of Round ? - birthday gifts
today was my friend Brenda's birthday. i went over before she had to go to work and gave her a handmade birthday card and a sweet little retablo that came from Peru. it's like a tiny wooden house with a hinged door and inside is a Nativity scene made of tiny hand painted clay figures. she loved the present, but the card really got her - she got all teary eyed and hugged my neck.
i got a very special receive in the mail today - a card from Elly Rose and a picture drawn by her granddaughter Kathy. that made my day.

I've often thought that the cards are the best part of certain gifts. I always like to take time to write something of my own inside of them too.
In fact one time I gave my cousin a card and a gift, and when I was leaving he told me "thanks for the card" but didn't mention the gift. I thought that was great; it let me know that my words meant something to him.

You made Brenda's birthday start out just right I love the retablo. Actually Kathy had several things done, she picked out the one to go to you. If she had her way you would have gotten three or four.
