29-Day Giving Challenge

today i gave a half of a gift actually. i started knitting foo mittens a couple weeks ago. well, a mitten. and i finally finished the first one today. i've never knitted mittens before, and it's always hard the first time i knit something new. i was so so so excited when i finished the first one and it turned out well that i gave foo half of her mittens gift today. and she likes it! tomorrow i think i'll start on the second one. hopefully it will go faster than the first one since i know a bit more what i'm doing now.
also, my gift for yesterday, about telling a highschool friend that i had always thought that she'd be a writer: she said that it was actually a huge compliment! and she sent me a link to her short story she finished! i'm so excited that she's writing. and i hope she continues to write.

Congratulations on the mitten! I am trying to learn how to knit, and my first project is a hat. I keep getting messed up and then I have to go down to the knit shop to get straightened out. It can be frustrating to be a beginner, so I'm thrilled for you!

Also, I'll bet you made that friend's day - kind words can do wonders - and that is a real accomplishment! :)

So important to tell people they are writers. Someone did that for me once and it resulted in 2 (unpublished) novels. Somehow the encouragement gets the words flowing.
