Day 26 - Thanksgiving wishes. On October 1, there were some Medicare changes about therapy reimbursement. Long story short, we have to provide therapy on holidays now. No holiday pay, which rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. (We never had it in the past when working holidays were optional.) Schedules were adjusted so just the people who had to absolutely be seen on Thanksgiving were scheduled. The 6 of us who were in this morning made the most of it and wished everyone we saw - patients, staff and each other - Thanksgiving wishes.
(Thankfully, Christmas this year is on a Sunday, which is not a day we normally deliver services and New Year's 2012 is also on a Sunday.)
List/meal planning - After last night's multiple trips to the store for ingredients and more nights of "It's 5p, what am I going to make for dinner" than I'd like to admit lately, I decided I really need to get it together and a) make a master list for Thanksgiving and b) make a meal plan for a few weeks if not a month ahead of time. I did a master list for Thanksgiving many years ago and DH thought it was silly. We're definitely different in our organization styles, and I work much better from lists.
I may not be able to follow a month-long meal plan but I figured having the guideline will help prevent us from eating spaghetti many times in a week. I asked my family to each make a list of 5 things they like and 5 things they don't like to eat for dinner. One person's fave is on someone else's 'don't like' list. No one seems to like Crock Pot dishes, which makes me a bit sad b/c those are so darn easy, lol.

I think crock pots are wonderful and that is sad that it is not popular at your house. How about a pressure cooker? I got a new one, one I don't have to worry about blowing up to the ceiling like my old one did!! (spaghetti sauce!!) We love barbeque western ribs in it and pork chops. It really comes in handy, just a thought...
They are easy and yummy!
