OK, I'm rolling several days into Day 27. ;-)
On Sunday the 18th, I had my debut as a handbell ringer at church. Mark was able to be there to hear me and he was proud of me! After church, the Hispanic church that meets in our building served our church a Fiesta Novidena. Que rico! I also took 5 presents for our giving tree, which will be for the homeless people that come to our Wednesday night meal.
That afternoon Mark got a run to Tacoma, WA and was going to be back the next day for an appointment, so I called my boss and asked if I could take Monday off so I could ride with him. She approved, so I got to do a trial run with Mark. It gave us an idea what things we need to work out a little bit when I join him full time (such as regular food for my blood sugar levels and better sleeping arrangements), but it was good to spend the time seeing what he does. I was able to make sure he ate and took his medications, and I read to him while he drove to help the time pass. It's going to be great when I get to go with him full time!
We got back home Monday afternoon, and that evening we had dinner with my son and daughter-in-law and took them to see the Christmas lights on Peacock Lane (a famous Portland tradition). It was wonderful to spend time with them and get to catch up on their news.
Mark got to spend the night at home last night, and then we got up early to take him to his truck. He's on his way to San Francisco now, but hopefully they'll get him back in time for Christmas.
At work today, I received Christmas cards from 2 of my co-workers, and one of them put chocolate in their card. Yum!
Also, a book I ordered for Mark for Christmas came in today. It's one his psychiatrist recommended he get. (He takes Ritalin for ADD so he has to see a psychiatrist on a regular basis to monitor it.) I ordered it through my library so I got a discount on it!

Oh! I wish I had been able to meet you when you were in Tacoma. You gave wonderful gifts and it sounds like you got some great receives as well! I hope you have a wonderful day, and I will be praying that Mark makes it back by Christmas.
Comment by QuakerDenise on December 21, 2011 at 9:42am I should clarify that as an employee of the library, I'm able to order books through my library at a discount. The general public wouldn't be able to do that.
Comment by Give a little ~ GALfriend on December 21, 2011 at 5:51am I had no idea that you could order books through the library - how clever!....I'm sure Mark will love having you along - I bet it gets lonely on the road...I read to honey on our trips too - keeps him alert on boring highway, it's amazing how quickly the road gets eaten up too!
Your gifts are wonderful, Denise...I really admire that you are going to start a whole new life on the road with your hubby. You are a very lovely woman full of love in your heart.
Beautiful gifts all around! :)
A wonderful combination of lovely gifts given and received!
