day 27--maybe not so surprised surprise

"Uncle Pat," one of the volunteers who's been working on the boat for almost as long as i've been alive, has been coming down to help me a lot. He also takes me, or me and Kent, out to eat and drink a lot. Kent doesn't like hanging out with him much, but i remind him of his daughter and he reminds me of my grandfather. We love working together and going out at "beer-thirty." So today I kept him working long past his supper time, and he was starving and wanted to go out to eat at our standard bar/restaurant down the street. I knew Kent didn't want to go, he wanted to have dinner at home, so i said I'd go with Pat and have a beer while he ate dinner, then come home and eat with Kent. Our normal bar was too busy with a bingo party, so we went across the street to another one and Pat had some tacos that he loved. I sneaked behind the bar and slipped the bartender, who was really nice, my credit card, so I could pay for our drinks and his dinner. A super fun gift, even though Pat knew exactly what I was up to. =)
