I decided today to make my gift a membership to a Hula organization
www.naleihulu.org. I lived in Hawaii growing up and still feel so connected to that culture. In the SF Bay Area there are a LOT of Hawaiians including music and dance groups. So I thought they could use the support and then I would be on their mailing list and find out about more of their shows and such.
It was also a big week for us as the school Science Fair was last night. We also have Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby tomorrow so my husband and I each had a role to support. Mine was Science Fair. I had a lot of resistance to this as I wanted it to be his project, not mine and I guess I am finding I am having a lot of resistance to a lot of things lately. I make short to do lists in hope of making baby steps so I don't get mired in the mud. It could have a lot to do with our unending dreary weather! So anyway we pulled it off and my son stopped and said "Thank you so much for helping me with my project! I thought it was going to be small and not as good and I'm so happy with it!" Wow! I was floored.
Last night was the big presentation. They also presented in their class earlier in the day. He did great. Afterwards they had a program in the cafeteria and one of the parents came up and said that her daughter talks about my son all the time saying how smart he is! On and on! Also he had a genius outburst at the field trip to the space center about the astroid belt and all the parents started clapping after that! I worry about him being different socially, but I think he has found his niche as the absentminded professor! With nine year old girls having crushes on him because he is so smart! I need to remember to focus on others' gifts rather than faults, especially my children! :)

Taking the presentation seriously. :)
