On Saturday, November 22nd, I sent four packages to people on the Wishlist Group on
Swap-Bot. Each month people can post 10 items that they wish for, and hope are granted. Others in the group look at the list, and see if they can fill any of the wishes. If they can, they ask one of the group officers for the address of the people to whom they want to send an item or package.
Some of the wishes are small (e.g., a card for a birthday) and others can be large. No one is guaranteed that they will receive what they wish for, but it is certainly fun to receive an unexpected letter or package in the mail that has one (or more) of your wishes in it.
So, I picked out four people to send items that they wished for:
- one wanted favorite holiday recipes. I sent her one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas, along with a short letter.
- one wanted a filled, altered matchbox. Her favorite color was orange, so I sent her one that was covered in handmade orange paper and embellished with an orange ribbon and button. The inside of the matchbox was filled with 20 different orange items. Didn't take a picture of it before mailing it, but this is an example of a yellow one I made some time ago that is very similar to the one I sent her:

- one wanted easy recipes for quick meals. Sent her four recipes - two for main dishes, one for a vegetable side dish, and one for a dessert. Also sent a short note with it.
- one wanted felt scraps. Went through my felt collection and cut squares in a variety of different colors. Sent her the package along with a note.
It was fun putting together the different wishes, and mailing them. Hope they brighten each person's day a bit this week when they receive them.
