I had not figured out what my give today would be. As has happened many times during this amazing journey, the opportunity for giving just presented itself to me. Here's how it came down. I was in line at Michael's to pay for a purchase. A lady and a boy about 8 or 9 years old were in line behind me. I think the lady was his grandmother. The little boy was discussing his purchases and his grandmother made the comment to me that he earned his money and was paying for his items himself. He had a little wallet and was going through his money. He was adorable. He said to his grandmother that he changed his mind about one item and wasn't going to get it because he wanted to save his money. His grandmother said she would buy that item for him. While standing in line, I planned my strategy and when I got to the register, I turned and asked him if I could see what he was buying. We talked about his items for a minute until the clerk got to me and then I just put them on the counter so I could purchase them for him. His grandmother protested a bit, but I just told her that it was something I wanted to do. She thanked me and prompted her grandson to thank me. Actually, no thanks were needed because it was just as much a gift to me as it was to the little boy! Can't wait to start Round 2.
