29-Day Giving Challenge

So I made this spicy Hot pepper/garlic stew (Indian soup/stew) specially good for during the cold weather and to clear the passages during a cold. Thought I'd take it out to the colleague as she lives alone and when one is sick, despite knowing how to make a meal, it's always nice to have someone else bring it to you.

Though, apparently she felt better so she came in to work!
She was surprised and did take it home however.

Following a post here on involving the kids, I got my 5 year old to make a popup card for her best friend down the road. She helped make it and gave it to her sprinting across the road to catch the bus. Was cute and funny. I posted a picture of her card.

We'll see what the weekend has in store!

So sorry Kelly, it took me a while, it's been a busy day!

Here's the recipe, a slight modification on the Mulligatawny soup that's popular.

Boil 3 cups of water in a saucepan, and add a few cherry tomatoes or one medium tomato chopped.
In a small food processor or mincer, grind/powder 6 peppercorns and 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds. If you do not have a processor, throw all these into a ziploc bag and crush them roughly with a rolling pin.
Add this mix into the boiling water.
Add 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of sugar
Let boil on medium for a bit.
In a small ladle/saucepan, add 1 tsp of oil and add in 2 cloves of garlic chopped/sliced.
Let it sizzle a bit but not burn.
Add to the boiling soup and take off the heat.

Coriander leaves add a special flavor, but it isn't a must.
Drink plain or mix with rice or dip some bread into it. Great for a cold day or when you feel a cold coming on.

Hope this helps, let me know if you get a chance to make it :)
