29-Day Giving Challenge

day 3.24 How do I want to be remembered?

I complimented a lady who happened to own the juice cafe I visited on her friendly team. I got my husband a smoothie. We stayed up late and did not get up to go out like we planned for breakfast. I went to church and decided to drop by so that he can get some nourishment.

I went over my neighbors who has kids to invite her to an event my church is having that is ultra kid-friendly. They are having a Christmas Pageant then afterwards, a petting zoo, train rides and 10 tons of snow brought in for sledding. It will be great. She was excited to know about it. She gave me a gift. She told me that the kids talk to their friends/cousins when they come over and tell them what a great neighbor I am by giving them treats. She said that I inspired them to continue to bake. Her oldest is 13. He runs. She said I inspired that. He also wanted to come over last week when I had his sisters over baking to help. He was trying to figure out a way to come over. So, I told her that I will make time next Sunday to teach him how to make pumpkin bread.

I remember thinking to myself years ago, "How do I want to be remembered?" And "What am I doing about it?" So, to want to be thought of as a nice neighbor and a good baker/cook, I think I am accomplishing that since she gave me the kind words today.

I did not know that one of her daughter's birthday is today. I am giving her a gift.

Peace to all.

Kimberly, your post reminded me of one of my favorite songs called "Legacy" by Nichole Nordeman. There is line that says "I want to leave a legacy. How will they remember me? Did I choose to love?" I try to remember these words when I'm tempted to complain, gossip or be selfish...those aren't the ways I want to be remembered!

Kimberly,
I wrote a comment here, and then forgot to click on the add button. I will try again. You are well on your way of leaving a legacy of warmth, love and caring, and a loving chef. Great gives today.
