Gave the gift of acceptance--I have a hard time accepting gifts, compliments, or anything given to me because I have always felt (or was told) I didn't deserve things. Getting things from others makes me feel uncomfortable unless I feel I have earned or worked for them. I usually turn down most offerings if that is an option just to avoid those feelings. I'm trying to change that. So today I said yes to anything that was offered. I was given a cart at the grocery store (the kind you have to pay a quarter for) and the woman wouldn't take my quarter and I just said thanks and smiled. I took some advice from a couple in the store as to what item to buy. And I went ahead of a woman in line when she offered it because I had less items. Small things, but every step helps in my journey to be a better person.
I also have a lot of trouble asking for help. A control issue, I know. I am having a medical procedure in a few weeks that I needed a ride home from, so I asked my aunt to drive me and didn't feel guilty about it for once. It's not weak to need assistance sometimes.
I gave the gift of time--spent the day with my parents and had dinner with them. Also accepted their gift of dinner and some other items. Enjoyed being there with them instead of feeling in was my obligation to visit.
