Now, I'm writing this a day later, so it may be cheating to say that I think this might be working but I feel great today. My spirit is really lifting. I'm also reading Normal Vincent Peale which is helping me a lot. So, yesterday:
I had my husband's ATM card (don't ask why - don't ask about how I became a drug addict from an undiagnosed broken pelvis, got sent to rehab for three months and totally ruined us financially a couple of years ago. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving!) Anyway, I had Husband's ATM and tried to buy two toys which my children picked out and were were going to drop off at the homeless shelter. It was a local store (which I'd consciously chosen over one of the toy behomoths, another mindful act) and I saw that they had a debit card swiper. Well, apparently they don't use it. I don't have the same last name as my husband and the woman made me feel like CRAP. Why don't you have your
own card? Uh, well see I'm this ex-drug addict loser, ma'am, but I'm really trying oh so hard to be a good mom and person, so just let me buy the toys already! So, we left the toys (I even told her they were for charity) and I got a real lesson in humility, like I needed more of one. Today I am getting my own ATM card (oooh, way to be an adult, Pink! You GO.)
So, we then went to Clayland to paint coffee mugs for Husband for Christmas. You can see our recent coffee cup drama here

and I thought kid painted mugs would be nice for him to have, one at home, one at work.
I then called Donna, the woman with MS that I mentioned in my previous post. I thought I'd pack her a little bag with some pretty yarn and a crochet hook and teach her to crochet but I had the wrong number for her. So, I will have to follow through on this and try to get the right number from my kiddo's preschool. Two giving attempts thwarted!
Husband was on call for the night so I decided to do a special activity for the kiddos, which they would love and would allow me some rest. We had a slumber party which started at 430pm. Everyone had to get into pajamas, they got to watch the Grinch, Frosty, Scooby Doo Christmas (basically 19 hours of cartoons, let's be honest here) and I let them eat oh so nutritious Hungry Man meals in bed. And popcorn. And hot chocolate with that fake whipped cream on top which gives everyone in a one mile vicinity a sugar freakout. But they LOVED it. So, when my kids showed up with our pink broom and Swiffer as horses, and my daughter put my son in a pink dress with Elmo boy underwear on his head (love the little penis flap over the eye) I wasn't surprised. They put on a play for me and it was over all a very fulfilling day. I went to sleep with a smile and so did they.
