29-Day Giving Challenge

Day 6 -13, the last few days of giving.......I am lost :(

Hi everyone,

Sorry for not updating my blog the last few days, I have been completely lost. Although I have been giving but it seems like my giving is just around my family and extended family. I am lost, I stop and wonder........am I still giving?? am I giving enough??
Here's an update on day 6 through 13th: My daughter was sick and I was taking care of her for a few days in between my visits to the rehab to spend time with my mother-in-law. Saturday morning spent some quality time with my hubby dear and thereafter we all took my mother-in-law out to lunch at her favorite restaurant "Panera Bread". Same evening it was family time, went to watch a basketball game with our favorite team.....Boston Celtics. That night I was up almost whole night thinking whether I was giving enough?? finally fell asleep around 6 a.m. half of Sunday passed in catching up on sleep, working around the house and giving some quality time to my dog Raja. Monday, day 11: I want to do something other than this everyday stuff but realized that I promised the day to my daughter for a mall/shopping outing, I did give some money to the Salvation Army lady outside Borders and I did have a great time with my daughter. Yesterday my day 12th: I gave a call to my mom in India, I try to call her every other day but haven't been doing it lately. I later visited my mother-in-law in rehab and took some fruits for her, she was so happy to see me.

Please respond to this blog and let me know what can I do to feel better about my giving, thanks!

Love and peace to everyone,
Simmi

You have to take care and give to your own family! Those are some of the best gives even though family sometimes takes those for granted. Just remember, their worth it!!! Keep it up Simmi!!!

Thanks everyone for the heartfelt comments, I really really appreciate it. I got it, I need to find happiness in what I am doing and whatever I am contributing whether its my family, extended family or the strangers. Once again, thank you everyone :)

Giving... the gift of yourself... participating in life and being fully engaged in your giving.
Sounds like maybe a gift of affirming yourself is needed, and letting go of "not being enough" .
If someone else wrote the letter you wrote, what would you say to them?? You are very hard on yourself.
Giving is "contributing" from the heart.

Simmi - my experience with the Giving Challenge has helped me to see that I often put REALLY big standards of perfection on myself, and this ultimately hurts me and others. By taking the Challenge I have the opportunity to give 1 small thing for 29 days in a row and to practice allowing this to be enough.

ENOUGH. It is a good word. And one that I did not have a very good relationship with - I was not enough, what I did was not enough, I was never good enough, thin enough, rich enough, nice enough.... you get the idea.

Taking this Challenge over and over (I'm on Round 7) I have come to treasure the small, intimate relationship I am developing with "enough."

It is changing my life.

I wish you well.

I see so much giving here - it seems you do these things so naturally they seem everyday to you. I wonder if you've reread what you wrote. I often find that it's not until I sit down and write about these things that I notice how much I've accomplished. What a loving family you have! If you feel the need to push your giving even further I've found the suggestions in the forum really helpful. Lots of great opportunities.
