Volunteering: are people who offer their service of their own free will
I took an hour off to help out in a volunteer lunch today there were at least 150 people at it. These men and women run what we call an activity centre for people in the 55+ primarily they are in the 50s volunteering in this centre.
As a community development worker i am blessed to be able to work with volunteers also it is amazing the time and passion these people give to their peers and community. They do so much for our city and to give back to them in a small way is a great experience. I hope that I one day I may be able to participate in my own community like they do.
They are community builders, some pioneers in their own neighbourhoods. Great story tellers and historians and with an abundance a wealth of life experiences. Our communities are richer because of people like them who are natural givers.

Hi Harriet and Deb,
Yes Harriet volunteers are gift from the heaven without their support Australia would stop. The government, NGO would not be able to deliver services to the community. They are what we call "Community Treasures".
Deb is it was a touching moment and i feel very blessed to be able to do my part.
