Because I am being open to giving, I notice that I look into peoples eyes more. I have conversations with the person behind the coffee counter. I give the dollar to the guy holding a sign. I listen a bit longer, I write an extra e-mail, and I feel more blessed than I have in a long time.
I received a gift from my sister today in the mail. She knew that I am going to start a website in the new year called trysomethingnew.us I will be doing one new thing a day for 365 days. I hope this inspires others to do the same, to try something new in their life, and to join my journey of trying new things with me. So my sister knows I wear only silver. In the mail there was a little envelope with a pretty bag inside. I opened the bag and a pretty gold necklace fell out. The note that came with it was "try something new, wear gold" :) What an awesome gift, and I can bet that she took care of one of her 29 gifts with that ......and I loved it.
Yesterday I put together a frame with pictures of my best friend and her newly adopted child. I just visited her and I thought this would be a perfect birthday present since I do not have a lot of funds right now. I also sent a thank you card to a good friend of mine along with a book that I wrote. I sent another card to congratulate another one of my friends for making it 1 year sober.
Today, which I think is day 10---I awoke knowing that my friend was very nervous about a competition that she is in out here in L.A.
She has worked hard and if she wins she will be the "Green" girl and do fun stuff for the environment and be like a spokesperson for this company. I looked around my apartment and saw a rock that had the word STRENGTH written on it. I gave it to her and told her to keep it just to add to the strength she already had.
Along the way today I gave to a homeless man, gave a stranger a compliment and held the door open for someone. Easy things to do, but when I get into a rush, these things I mostly overlook.
I went to a charity event for the whales last night and I do believe that is where I would like to put my energy- into animals. I love them more than people most the time. I just need to find the place I can do the most help for animals.
I will remain open and see what comes, meanwhile, I will take Howie on a hike tomorrow, to give him the gift of a nice long dog walk. :)
