29-Day Giving Challenge

This afternoon and evening, I attended two holiday functions that I normally would have avoided. This is a really big deal for me. All week I've been putting myself out there instead of staying home alone. Giving the gift of my presence at these events has been very good for me, and seems to have made a difference to those I shared the time with.

At this evening's party, I was sitting near a lady who seemed to be feeling a bit out of place. She didn't know anyone there. And, to make things a little more awkward, her date was the recent ex-husband of a lady who is friends with many of those in attendance. I made an effort to start up a conversation with her, take an interest in what she had to say and include her in the discussion that was going on around her. I think that she felt a bit more comfortable and welcome after our interaction. A little kindness makes a great gift!

(I also gave my friend a beautiful pair of earrings and a bracelet for her 40th birthday.....and a special card. It felt good to find the perfect gift for her special day.)

I hope you all have wonderful dreams tonight!

what a wonderful thing to give your presence, even when it was really hard to do so! Congratulations!

I enjoyed reading your post and I agree that the gift of presence is far greater then any present we can give.

I think that the gift of our presence is the most valuable gift we have to give. You did great! Keep it going. :)
