Last night, before going to sleep, I already thought what would make others happy tomorrow. I decided to search for random countries on the net (That*s how we children of the internet deal with such situations :D) and write to people from these countries and learn more about these places and especially the people I write to. I didn*t send all five messages yet, but I paid close attention to really responding to these people*s wishes and, after all, such friendships are great. You learn so much about the other person*s life, their culture, their dreams, hopes, and problems. However, I did this not to just count new friends to those I have already -- I really want to get rid of any possible prejudices concerning certain places on this Earth. I cannot explain what hides behind this fear of being intolerant to foreign people. I guess it has a lot to do with my childhood again, but I do not want to talk bad about ANYBODY right now. Let*s just put it that way : I have had many, many discussions with people who could not stand foreigners at all (And I am scared that those discussions later on made me more and more intolerant to other people aswell. I don*t want to judge people just based on their heritage after all; that is extremely important to me!).
I also want to make others happy, so I was glad when the generator chose some countries I didn*t know much about so far. Besides that, I forgot to mention I sent the postcards yesterday, but since today is Sunday I doubt they will receive them before tomorrow.
So, today is defined by the title : "Extending a hand in friendship". I also am online at CouchSurfing again. I cannot offer a sleeping place to anybody, but I hope I will find some people to go drink some tea with (Since I don*t like coffee :D). They are also offering now a feature for things you can do with travelers in your freetime, like bike tours or going dancing or anything like this ... {And I love this page, for real. You learn so much about each other*s countries after all, in all kinds of aspects.}
And that said, my gift for today was sending messages to those people. And I really hope I will be able to go to one of the meetups over here, concerning CouchSurfing or anything else like this.
I hope I didn*t make anybody feel bad while reading this. What I tried to say is : I love having the opportunity to meet people from other countries. It is exciting, it is inspirational, and I just love being able to talk in different languages from time to time :). I think it is a great gift, after all, that we enrich each other so much because of our ideals. I think many people from different countries pay much more attention to certain aspects of life that others don*t waste many thoughts on ... ^o^
Have a great day everybody!!
