Had a wonderful weekend! Couldn't post the last two days because my internet was doen! So frustrating.
On Saturdsay I went to an all day IEB Conference, thinking that there would be no time or oppotunity ti give. How wrong we can sometimes be!
I picked up a friend early in the morning to travel with me, because she has had a cornea transplant and can't see well yet.
Teachers are a funny lot! They can get so worked up about nothing. I have always found this quite funny, but on Saturday it became clear just how weird we lot are again. As we were queueing for tea, my friend and I left the Conference Hall a little later than most, because we were chatting. When we came outside, one of the conference centre employees directed us to the front of the line on the other side of the table where everybody was standing, saying that they had set up tea to be served from both sides. Bonus, we thought! Well, when we got to the front a very young teacher started shouting at us in his teacher voice, that we were very rude, couldn't we see that there was a queue, and didn't we think that everybody else was hungry and thirsty too. I just looked at the young man and quietly told him that it was not rocket science to work out that a table had two sides, which of course made everybody laugh at him.
I felt reall bad for the young man and decided to do something about it. I loaded a plate ful of eats and took it to him in the conference hall with an apology. He didn't know what to say, but it did make me feel a little better.
Later that day I notice the organiser running around trying to sort out some unforseen problems and when I went to get some cold drinks, I got her one too. She wanted to know how I knew she needed that and I told her that I didn't, but if it was me running around like that I know I would be very thirsty right about now.
Sunday was a great giving day. I took ny two youngest children shopping. I bought my son some clothes for work and my daughter some clothes to train in. Both were very happy and then we all went for breakfast and spent some quality time together. Now that they are all grown up, this happens less and less so when it does, it is a wonderful gift.
Yesterday was not such a great day for me. I picked up some stomach bug and spent most of the day on or around the toilet. My husband even took me to our local hospital last night where they put me on a drip before sending me home. Not nice and no giving for the day I'm afraid. Feeling a lot better thias morning. .
