29-Day Giving Challenge

Days 8 and 9 - gifts of positive thoughts

One reason that I started this challenge was that I wanted to change my consciousness. I felt like I was often not changing at all even as I dutifully recorded my daily gifts. The other day I considered the question "what would happen, how would my life changed if I just pumped positive thought into the world". So I have been working with bringing more moments of awareness into each day and then turning my thoughts to the positive. I send other drivers thoughts of safety. I silently wish for others to have a joyful day. When I look at my mail, even if it is junk, I hope that the sender will be successful. If I have ongoing negative thoughts about challenging people in my life, I at least try to get to neutral by wishing them happiness. This tends to make me feel somehow brighter on the inside and I really like it, when I remember to connect to my intention and be aware.

Thank you for the encouragement. I needed that right now. I have this tendency to fall asleep at the wheel of life and just plain forget my intention to do this. I am going to just keep at it and hopefully the periods of awareness will gradually increase.
I read a remarkable story but I can't remember the book I read it in. A woman was in a very severe car accident during rush hour and was badly injured. She left her body and "flew" over the traffic jam and could read driver's thoughts. Most people were angry because they were inconvenience. But she reported that light was streaming out of one car and it was coming from a woman who was praying for her. Well, after she recovered and left the hospital she found the lady, knocked on her door, and brought her a bouquet of flowers. I would have loved to read about how the praying woman reacted. This story impressed me so much and I always wanted to be the one that was streaming the love. But I seem to fail so often. Thanks for reminding me why it is important to not be discouraged and keep trying.

Years ago there was a study that showed people who received prayers (even from strangers) on their behalf had better outcomes than those who did not. The study was even referenced on an episode of West Wing. Sending positive energy out could do the same.

Your post puts a new spin on things for me.
