I came thiiiis close to blowing off my first Weight Watchers meeting in forever - it was the Sartorial Catch 22 - I didn't have anything to wear, and the reason I didn't have anything to wear was because I've gained a bunch of weight. So I needed to go to my meeting. but I didn't have anything to wear... I was so tempted to dress as Clinton Kelly's worst nightmare in my finest flannel PJ's, but better judgment prevailed and I struggled into some pants and a forgiving sweater. Once at the meeting, I could tell that I wasn't the only one mourning the loss of our Beloved "Old" Points - with these new must-have calculators which figure out your PointsPlus...but it's OK, maybe it'll make everything seem fresh and exciting. And maybe it'll even be easier to lose weight. So I gave myself the gift of getting back on the health horse. As that old commercial used to say "cause if you have your health, you have everything.." I think that was for Geritol. Wonder what was in that stuff....
Anyway, here's what I did for others:
1) released two Bookcrossing books at the mall
2) gave a homeless lady my change - it was $.65 and she was so genuinely grateful that it really touched me. I wanted to give her some more on the way out of the store but she was gone, waah.
3) thanked the sales staff at a store in the mall profusely for their help. I was very dejected about having to go up a size in pants (tying neatly into the wearing PJs in public discussion above) and they were sweet, funny and helpful. I bought two pairs of pants on sale and will be wearing them to death until I can fit into my old clothes.
4) played Peekaboo and told a mom how adorable her baby was as we waited in line at Subway for our 6 Grams of Fat or less sandwiches...
5) helped a coworker with a thorny problem - while* I* didn't solve it, I was able to play Robert Sean Leonard to her Hugh Laurie and she worked it all out.
I'm thinking there was more, but I have to go nudge my teenager off the computer and to bed...Good night, all.
