I have a friend named Kyla.
She has a lot of trouble with herself. She is extremely self-conscious about everything and hardly ever talks because she feels as though everything she says is worthless.
I always try to include her, but these thoughts are so engraved into her mind that she doesn't feel worthy enough to be included in conversations.
Today, in American History I was telling her how much I loved what she wrote and read out loud last class. I thought it was just beautiful. She really has an art for putting words together to form extremely thought provoking sentences and ideas. I told her I love everything she says as well as writes and that I greatly admire her talent.
She was speechless for a moment, and then said "Thank you, that means so much to me."
I am going to continue to say things like this from now on to her. I hope eventually the incorrect thoughts that are currently ruling her life will be pushed out and replaced by the ones that make her feel proud of who she is and what she has to say.
