29-Day Giving Challenge

Earlier this week I had set a goal for myself: knit five hats for needy babies in five days. I finished my last hat this morning..the sixth day. Nuts! I could have completed the last hat on Day five but my family wanted to "really" watch a film on television together. One where I wasn't furiously knitting and asking every five minutes "What happened?", Who is that?" So I put my knitting back in the basket. To be present and aware seems to be something I'm still working on; getting the big picture. Maybe I'll start to get there in Round Two!
Today I sent in a donation to the Environmental Defense Fund. Also collected a lot of cast off cell phones to be recycled by cellphonesforsoldiers.com. They get the money from recycling the phones and use the money to buy calling cards so our soldiers can call home. The organization even pays for the postage to send in the old phones.
Sending my hats out to Salvation Knitters for the Salvation Army.
A great gift I received was my husband's continuing efforts to make the bird feeders squirrel-proof. Don't worry, the squirrels are fatter than any of the birds in my yard!

I didn't know you knitted that's awesome! I started knitting in December and I am addicted, it's so relaxing to me, except when I mess up! I started my first project earlier this month, a baby blanket for my cousin's baby. That was the whole reason I learned how to knit, because my cousin is also my best friend and this is her first baby so I wanted to do something special. I thought the blanket would be my first and last project, but now I'm hooked! I would also like to get involved with knitting for charities, you did great knitting the hats in such a short period of time! You inspire me with your blogs, you are such an amazing person!

You still got the hats done though so that's what really matters :o) All of your gifts were very nice. I love the cell phones for the soldiers. Anything to help them...
