"Serving Others
Gandhi 'got' the buzz. He said, 'Consciously or unconsciously, every one of us does render some service or another. If we cultivate the habit of doing this service deliberately, our desire for service will steadily grow stronger, and it will make not only for our own happiness, but that of the world at large.'
Yep, you guessed it. A great way to raise the planetary vibe is to get out and help others. When we give of ourselves to others- volunteering at a homeless shelter, the Humane Society, or a retirement center, or even simply paying for the next car at the toll plaza or planting trees in a treeless part of the city or smiling more often at bank tellers- our immune system surge, endorphins crank, hearts open, and the vibe is higher not only for those you help but even for those who witness or hear about your generosity. Gandhi also said, 'To give pleasure to a single heart by a single act is better than a thousand heads bowing in prayer.' An excellent book that discusses this sort of action through hundreds of moving and deeply inspiring examples is Caroline Myss's Invisible Acts of Powers. Now, go put a daisy on a stranger's windshield."
