I haven't been able to blog lately because I have been on vacation with my friend! I had a blast, and being taken on the trip was a gift in itself!
So gift 9 was to my sisters friend. She is staying with us for a week, and she wasn't feeling well the other day. (Turns out, she was barfing all day. Ew.) Anyway, instead of shying away like I would usually do, I went up to her and asked if she was okay, and if she needed anything.
Gift 10 was not a great giving day... I have to admit that I didn't really think much about giving all day until 10 that night when I realized - crap! I haven't given anything today! By that time, I was in bed with the lights out, and it was too late. Instead, I thought back to my day... I realized that I had given some extra smiles and attention to a little girl we saw at the science museum we went to. I also thought a lot about a poster for a missing girl we had seen in the city. I made an effort to quiet my thoughts for a few minutes and send out my love to her and her family and pray that she will be okay.
Day 11 was a little better... We went to an ice cream factory, and I paid for ice cream... Not much considering my friends family paid for the entire trip, but I was happy to do something. I also made an effort to call my dad and leave a heartfelt message on fathers' day. My friends aunt's dad had a stroke while we were at the beach. He is okay, but it was a little scary to say the least. Instead of being miffed about not being able to stay at the beach longer, I was very understanding and tried to be kind about it. I also sent out my love to her and her dad and her family. Luckily, he is okay!
Today, day 12 was a bad giving day again... I sent my friend an e-mail and was genuinely excited to hear from her, and to hear about her adventures in Canada. I offered to take some pictures of my sister and her friends. But those were half-hearted...
Oh well, it'll be better tomorrow! After a not so great weekend, I will make sure this week is extraordinary!
