I have always been a giving person. Even if I dont give something that money can buy, I am always giving flowers from my garden, baked goods from the kitchen or just a smile to who ever crosses my path. But have never kept a log. Thus now with 29-day giving, I am checking out myself to see what can I really give that will matter to someone.
On Day 2, I invited a neighbor and her little daughter to come and bake some Christmas cookies in my kitchen. So, I lit up candles, put on Christmas music, gathered the ingredients, made some winter spice tea and encouraged her to help me.
She never likes to bakes, she had told me often.
So, all this took about 3 hours of my time. But, it was an enlightening experience.
My neighbor and her daughter were all smiles and all happy as they got into the holiday spirit. Both helped in preparing the cookies. I then put them in a pretty plate, and gifted them to her.
The little girl got an additional present--a butterfly Christmas tree ornament.
I enjoyed this activity so much that I now plan to have a similar get-together with her or another neighbor next year. What a great memory for the little girl!
