29-Day Giving Challenge

Today I gave encouragement to five different people, and it felt so good to be able to reach out and touch them in their own moment of need. Isn't that what it means to be human? The problem is that we get so busy and so caught up in our own lives and problems that there isn't time or energy left over to notice that all around us there are people who are hurting. Some of them are truly desperate and in need . Now we may not have the financial resources to help in a material way, but whatever our own need might be, if we reach deep down and recall the times we have been in serious crisis, just sharing our caring and reminding someone in emotional pain that they are not alone is the kind of give we can all offer. I am older now: 68 years, and I've lived long enough and had enough difficulties that I seem to recognize that state in others. I have begun to realize that what I've experienced and lived through might help someone else; it doesn't even have to be the same kind of experience; just coming along side of someone and being with them in the darkness can bring the light of love......and all of us need that kind of love.

You are so right. In a crisis encouraging words can mean the world to us.

Encouragement is an amazing give. There are so many people who don't have anyone in their lives to even offer a kind word to them.. I have noticed and been guilty of this in the past that many of us just walk through our days without even noticing others. Just a smile or a kind word can make a persons day so much better.
