Yesterday was one of those days where there seemed to be so many opportunities to give. I love those days! It was a typical day filled with work, dropping off/picking up kids and grocery shopping, but I was very happy to find many ways to give as I went through my day. Here is a list of the giving opportunities that I was able to seize:
*I left some muffins for the guys that repaired my heat pump....bless their hearts, I'm warm and toasty now.
*I found some "100 day" activities and shared with some co-workers as Monday is our 100th day of school this year.
*Left some coupons in the appropriate aisles and even found a couple that I could use. :)
*Gave $1 to a lady at the grocery store that was short about 80 cents.
*Gave two quarters to a little boy that desperately wanted a goodie out of a machine and his mom's hands were full...she said it was ok, so we were all smiling.
*Cleaned out all the change in the bottom of my purse and put it in a collection box at a gas station for the Heart Association.....my purse is lighter and they got a chunk of change....a win-win!
*I helped an older gentleman at our recycling drop-off....he was walking with a cane and was having much difficulty getting his plastics, etc into the bins.
*Gave a small bag of hard candy to the deputy providing security outside our local high school at a basketball game. This was completely unplanned. I was dropping off my daughter and her friend and saw him standing there all alone and knew he had a long night ahead. I always keep a small bag in my car and it seemed like the right thing to do. He was very appreciative.
So that was my day....I don't think that I gave anything big, but I hope I brought a few smiles. I have to thank Cami and all of my giving family because before the challenge I don't think I would have been aware of these opportunities or had the courage to act on them. Thank you,my fellow givers, for all of your inspiration.....I am blessed! :)
