29-Day Giving Challenge

Have I really not blogged since JANUARY?

Well, I have been kind of busy. I was working a part time job on top of my full time one, trying to raise more funds for the adoption process. I was burning out & gave my notice ... just in time for our little girl to arrive. No joke. I was literally IN the exit interview, about to hand over my keys to the office when we got the call to travel because the birthmother was in labor, a 15 hour drive away! Our daughter was born in March & we have been tremendously blessed with her. My husband has been saying "This Christmas is going to be the leanest ever." In terms of physical gifts, yes -- we've been financially strapped ever since she arrived due to both of us losing revenue by being away from our jobs & then my business taking a nose dive & then additional adoption expenses creeping up. In an amazing turn of fortune, we've avoided childcare expenses thanks to the help of an extraordinary friend who keeps her 3 afternoons a week while we both go to work. Who cares about the physical junk? We're swimming in abundance, as far as I am concerned. I still want to give gifts, though, so I'll be doing a lot of handmade stuff for most of our loved ones. I think they'll understand, don't you? ;)

i am so glad to hear from you, Latharia! congratulations on your precious new daughter. there are far more important blessings than money and it sounds to me like you have been showered in them :-)  and i think that your loved ones will not only understand, but be thrilled with your handmade gifts, which after all take a lot more effort than just whipping out a charge card. i think a lot of people are doing the same thing this year...i know i am. welcome back! Hugs, Dawn
