Hi everyone,
I am in CT; last night after seven days without power, my street's power was restored. There are over 215,000 people in CT still without power. I can attest to how hard it is to stay warm at night in Novemeber in CT without power.
If you have any way to help people in this area to stay warm -- or any way to let others know that this is happening and perhaps influence THEM to help these people in need -- this is a GREAT opportunity for you to give.
I'm thinking: help get hot coffee and tea to those in the cold. Help organize neighborhood watches to check on residents without power. Give a spare blanket to a shelter.
If anyone knows someone in power at a place like Dunkin Donuts ... maybe you could persuade them to provide the hot drink supply.
Enjoy your warm homes. It is a TRUE blessing.

Great idea about the church!
My neighbor is putting in a prayer request at church for CT today. And I heard on this mornings news, a local station, that 99percent of the electricity will be restored by tonight...if this is so, then was a Blessing!!

Cassandra.. i saw the map, it is awful. I liked a linked from a website about it, to my facebook page. I will see what else I can do, like send a donation to the food bank there. I am so very sorry. I hope a hug will help for right now.

Comment by CassandraMadeIt on November 5, 2011 at 9:07am So far, I've seen local food banks help. Here's one story of a restaurant helping: http://chesterfield.nbc12.com/news/news/65699-chesterfield-county-n...
Bet they could use some funds.
Cassandra, I am so glad you now have your power back. My heart and prayers go out to everyone in your state (or elsewhere) that are suffering through this. My prayers also go out to the Power Lineman and others who are working around the clock to restore your power. My son is a Power Lineman and I know the many, many hours of overtime he nd his fellow lineman put in during the winter to restore power after the many windstorms we have here in Western Washington. Please let me know i you know of a charitable organization that is helping in Connecticut. I will also search the web to see what I can find. I can not be there to help in person, but I will pray and will donate if possible. Stay Safe!
I am very sorry to hear of so many suffering. I will investigate in ways to help... I am glad you now have power~
Comment by CassandraMadeIt on November 5, 2011 at 8:13am Lois, I am fortunate as I now have power. I am thinking of those that do not. Maybe you could help by calling a news station to ask for more coverage of this problem. This way, maybe, the people in the cold can get more help.
