29-Day Giving Challenge

Not long after I posted about iPeace sadly having to shut down, it was announced by the founder, David Califa, that he will keep the social network open for another year. A little good news. God willing, it will be continue to be a positive presence for peace online in an often shallow and divided world.

What has peace got to do with giving and 29 days?

For me, they are both essential for humanity. Ideally, all humans should live in peace: without war and without tyranny, with freedom of thought, religion, speech, assembly, etc. However, throughout the world, few humans live in real peace. Helping them in any way possible is a great give. Even in conditions where there is no peace at all, we can prove our humanity by giving to one another. I remember reading about some people in the Nazi's death camps, sharing food and necessities and finding creative ways to help one another survive. It was all the more remarkable because there were others trying to survive by stealing from others. I cannot remember the book or author of this memoir, but this was one of the most powerful things I have read.

Whatever our condition, we can all do something to encourage peace. Whatever our condition, we can give to others from what we have been given.
