Its the Little Things

Its such a busy time of year and I imagine especially hard for those that work in retail. This morning I stopped by the local book store because a book I ordered as a gift had come in. There were two women working and loooong lines. When it was my turn, the cashier had to go to the back to get the book. She explained that hey were short staffed. There were small chocolate candies for sale individually, I purchased one and gave it to her and expalined it was her for having such a busy day. She was so appreciative. It was a small gesture, but w/o having ventured into this giving challenge I don't think I would have done that. This challenge has forced me over and over to look beyond myself. Rather then think of the inconvience or length of time I had to wait in line, I looked at it from the employees perspective.

For the next week, think of the folks in retail and see how you can give back to them. I feel so honored and inspired to have stumbled into this group.
