July Giving Theme + NEW Great Giving Story Contest

Hi 29 Gifters,

I went barefoot all day today to "warm up" for our  June 29 Go Barefoot Day. It looks like a few brave souls have signed up to join me and go barefoot Wednesday June 29. Go barefoot to put yourself in the shoes of the shoeless and then give lightly used shoes to be passed on to people in need all over the world. My closet was recently purged so I am giving money directly to soles4souls, an organization I have supported for years. For every $1 they collect, they give one pair of shoes.

ATLANTA was fantastic. Our 29 Gifts Live Events were all fun and we met many new friends. I spoke to help raise money for the MS Society, I was also part of a dialog at Atlanta Unity Church during two morning services. I helped Atlanta Unity launch their own 29 Gifts Challenge as a community. The Sunday I attended--Day One, we helped the church reach it's goal of raising the final $6,000 of the $25,000 needed to help refinance their new building and office spaces. Beyond enjoying the events, I had tons of fun spending time with my mom, Sharon and Mary (our leaders of our new 29 Gifts Ambassador Team) during our downtime. We laughed a lot, cried a little, and dreamed a bit about what comes next for 29 Gifts. We have posted a few Atlanta albums if you want to see photos from the tour.

I want to introduce our July Giving Theme: Honoring our Military. We choose this theme as we celebrate our country’s freedom on the fourth of July and throughout the month we encourage you to show appreciation to those who have put themselves in harm’s way in honor of our country. Our 29 Gifts Welcome Wagoneer Team (the volunteers who keep this site running smoothly) worked together to provide you with this fantastic list of 29 Ways to Honor our Military Heros -- present and past.

Part-time, Volunteer Content Manager Needed for 29Gifts.org -- wanna do service with us?
A Volunteer Content Manager is now open for the 29Gifts.org Giving Movement. The candidate for this job would work directly with founder and Bestselling author, Cami Walker and other 29 Gifts.org leaders to keep site content fresh, and serve as editor-in-chief of Cami's Good Giving Weekly Blog Posts and Community Blasts. Candidate must be available 11:00 am- 2:00 pm Mountain Time on three weekdays. Workload would vary between 10-20 hours per week. This would be a great opportunity for a college student in Journalism looking for internships, a budding author, or anyone with great communication skills looking for a new challenge.
