just being there prepared

Yesterday I was supposed to meeting a friend and she was running late and hadn't even left her house when I called her. I was on my bike and didn't feel like waiting but instead I told her to come anyway I would wait besides she sounded like she had been crying. While she was in the car she called me to let me know about some terrible things that had just happened. Things that I am not accustomed to. So in the time I was waiting for her instead of just fuming or listening to music I called upon some people whose opinion I value and when she showed up I was able to offer sound advice and really be there for her. The time flew by and it felt good to see her leave with a smile. Thank god for friends.
