29-Day Giving Challenge

Manners are a sensitive awareness of the feelings of others. If you have that awareness, you have good manners, no matter which fork you use.

Thank you for clarifying that for me, Peter - I was told to use the fork farthest from me first and move in.  Now for all the glasses and coffee cups... I haven't a clue.

Gail - that was funny. Henry and I do that sort of thing often.  Nothing lightens a minor disappointment  or quells a potential argument than clever banter and laughter.

My husband came home from work today and complained that I had eaten half his bar one chocolate, I told him it wasn't good manners to talk about food that had been eaten then he went to the fridge to look for half a hamburger that he left from the night befor again he started to complain and I knew our son had come home at lunch time and ate it so again said it's not good manners to go on about food that has been taken.  He said it's fine for me to say it wasn't my food that was taken.  We were just fooling around light banter.

How I love this! I was asked to teach a class on manners to young farmers, and I told them that all good manners were based on two things: hygiene and kindness. But really, it all comes down to kindness, doesn't it?
