Day Twelve
Dec 22 2008
I am still pumped up over our photo day with owners and their pets.Yesterday was just a pleasurable day.Today however the phone here is ringing constantly for late photo goers. Our turn out for this one and only day of the year is always excellent.I am sorry for the people who couldn't make it in to have their photos done.We are always in awe over owners and their pets.To see how loved others pets are brings me such a good feeling and I am always glad to have been a part of their new found happiness.Owning an animal as a pet is so rewarding, but to give a pet to a passionate person is much more than rewarding. The girls and I always say "I feel complete" which basically falls into all categories of feeling and expressions.I am still on phone duty.So I am finding it difficult to write today so with that I'll wish you all a Merry Christmas and once again I am taking another break due to the holidays.God bless.Have a wonderful Christmas
Peace-out
Day Elven
Dec 21 2008
This is the one I done today of my precious little Molly Girl

Today was a lovely day filled with barking dogs and hissing kitty
cats,Birds singing, squawking and chirping..I live to hear those
sounds. We had over 340 photos shots of animals galore. We had free lance
Artists and photographers from all over Ontario and New york State.I
even grab a few pencils and brushes to do a few of my pets.I brought my
Molly Girl in with me.She is a four year old Sharpei and really enjoys
meeting people and other species of animals.Since she has come into our
lives she has become quite the little peace maker amongst all our pets
here. She keeps the Kitty cats in line and gleams with such pride when
she has stop a cat fight or the cat quarreling. Our three cats seems to
adore her also. While Mommy was busy taking photos and meeting people
she stayed close to the puppies that were waiting to be photograph and
seems to take possession immediately of her duties. The shelter is
always full at this time of year generally when we send out photos of
pets needing homes the response is always good.We are always up to
speed though when its comes to parents getting pets as Christmas
gifts. We have the new potential owners take the pet on a trail bases
before they sign any adoption papers. So far this year our foster homes
volunteers are in large numbers. We are always grateful for the
generosity and support we received from our community and surrounding
areas. Thanks to the vast advertising of other organizations and animal
rights groups the awareness of animal cruelty and homelessness is
reaching people with a enormous impact and there appears to be more
people willing to foster this pets until they can find suitable
homes.Today we had more people coming in with their pets to have their
Christmas photos taken. I see more happiness in the strays and abandon
animals when we photograph them. They wear their appreciation well.We
also had people bringing in old photos that they wanted sketched or
painted and just to have an added Christmas spirit to their pets past
photos.Today all the pets knew it was their day to mingle, snack and
play with other pets. This was their day to be appreciated
Have a great day
Love and Peace to all

Day ten
Dec 20 2008
Wow finally back on my feet after a serious bout of pneumonia.I will
continue with my 29 day challenge starting from my last day which was
nine My volunteer work with stray and abandon animals is always a
constant in my life and has been for over 25 years. I am an active
animal activist and this is my way of finding a little piece of that
peace out there.I am still under going hospital care for my battle with
pneumonia.I am having problems due to low t-cells which are quite low
due to me undergoing Chemotherapy a while back.I will however be home
for Christmas .The girls have been hooking me up with some live links
from the shelter and all have said that they have been extremely busy
now that the cold weather is upon us.I can honestly say that there are
alot of sincere people who loves to help out with these lost and
abandon little critters and this makes me feel better..especially
during these hard economical times and more hardships a head .Tomorrow
I will be assisting the girls with Christmas photos of our fury little
friends and rounding up some help and funding for the new year coming
in.Looking forward to our photography day at the shelter.I would also
like to express my sincere apologies for having to have such a long
break in my challenge ...but please bear with me as I will eventually
complete this challenge. Thanks to all my readers, all the kind words and
thoughts and well wishes they are greatly appreciated.Wishing you all a
nice weekend.
Peace-out

Day nine
Oct 29/08
Well i am finally back on my feet after a grueling 12 days in bed
battling pneumonia.I've lost 17 lbs and still feel a little under the
weather. My medication are having a difficult time kicking in.Being
allergic to penicillin has made my battle even more difficult. For the
past 12 days i had to undergo intravenous therapy daily none of the
first medication were working.....after the first week they eventually
hospitalized me.Being in the health care industry for 17 years makes us
nurses avoid hospitals as much as possible even when we are sicker than
dogs. The girls at the shelter has been busy. Now that the cold weather
has come in,our worries are even more to deal with.We had our first
snow fall last night and had an accumulation of 6 inches of snow.I am
back at the shelter to do my volunteer work only they have me on desk
duty. The phone just keeps having a steady ring and the people on the
other end are just so rude and mean.I am trying to keep my cool if only
people would realize we are here strictly by volunteering our services
and offer sincere animal care for free and that we are a non profit
organization..also a little respect would make our day and progress
more easy.We are here for the love and concern of
stray/abandon/neglected and sick animals that have been put outside on
the curb like garbage and that we do really care and do our best to
help these beautiful creatures that Mother Earth has given to us to
love and nurture .I pray that some day we may find a way to help and
understand a way to develop a deeper relationship with Mother Earth,.
and, hopefully, with each other. ...
Peace-out

Day eight
Oct 17/08
Well today I was a little under the weather and Shirley insisted that I
go to the emergency I was just not well.I went to the hospital and
found out that I have pneumonia. So I will take the five day bed rest
and cuddle with my pets they always make me feel better. The little
critters always know when I am not well they hover around me and stare
at me with their little sad eyes.So when I cuddle with them they seem
to be a little more at ease besides their warm little bodies are making
me feel great.I have three cats two black cats and a Calico and my
Molly girl she is a 4 year old Sharpei.I will be back on the 22nd or
23rd depends on how I am feeling.Peace-out

Day seven
Oct 16/08
Shirley had been up all night going through foot notes on missing
pets. She thinks she may of found all the owners for the strays that we
picked up yesterday. So we were off to hopefully return the strays to
their owners. The two with the chips had been returned to their owners
over night. One owner came all the way from Windsor,Ontario and Shirley
said she cried and cried she was so happy to find her pooch, but
couldn't figure out how her little pooch got to London. We told her
someone probably stole her and that she managed to get way and met up
with other strays and just followed them around. Her little puppy was
missing for over three months and she had lost all hope of finding
her.We had to get rid of the fleas and gave her some shots in case she
had picked up other unknown visitors.Fortunately most strays are up to
date with their shots and have a strong immune system. Her puppy was
fine we found no known diseases and the puppy was just as happy to see
her Mommy. All in all it was another good day.

Day six
Oct 15/08
It's raining cats and dogs today and I worry for the little critters
that are out in the streets and I am not alone.Shirley called me at 7
am and wanted to do a drive around looking for strays.I pack the usual
pets packs and we hit the streets. We picked up five dogs and left food
for a number of stray cats that were just too fast for us old Broads. We
took the dogs to the shelter and tomorrow we will see if any of them
are missing pets.Fortunately two of them had computer chips so we're
off to a good start. It's days like this that I go home and hug my pets
to death for fear that some day they too may have the urge to run.But I
am surrounded with them all and they all want some loving probably can
smell the other animals off me.

Day five
Oct 14/08
We started our day off with a call from the animal control staff. They
had received a call about a cat lady.Ok here we go again yesterday
explains today call.As we went to go to the cat lady home I prepared
myself for the worse and OMG this lady had 29 cats and her home smelled
like a litter box.But to our surprise she had provided for them all
quite well. They had all their shots and were all well fed.She was going
into the hospital and wanted us to just tend to her cats well she was
away. But Animal Control had to be the hard noses that they are. They
told her that the law only allows two cats per home and that she had
broken the law.Well I had enough with Animal Control and their nonsense
.We pulled the lady aside and told her that we would try and find homes
for her cats and that because she lived in a Rural area that the law of
the city does not apply to country folk. She had nearly broke apart when
Animal Control started to pull that garbage on her and asked them to
leave. She was so angry with them. This is why we operate under a no
clause menu because of Animal control and there threatening
tactics. This world would be a better place without animal control they
are the coldest organization out there claiming to do good for the
animals. They clearly are into it for the money always driving around
looking at who and what misery they can bring out of good hearted
people who just wants to provide love and care for animals.By the end
of the day the community that the cat lady had lived in had stepped up
for her and offer to take care of her cats for her she just didn't want
to ask her neighbors for fear of being a nuisance .Who needs Animal
Control when we have a community that is willing to help their
neighbor. My day is just ending it 2 am and tonight I am going to have a
well deserved sleep..nite..nite..all

Day four
Oct 13/08
Today was a day at the computer updating my list of little critters
that needed to be place in a good home.As i started out I thought that
this day would be long and grueling but by the days end I realized that
there really isn't too much to do at the computer, we had possible
homes for the remaining animals who needed to be placed.I went over to
the shelter to see whether I could help the girls out there but even
they were having a slow day.In a sense thats a good thing.Usually when
we have a slow period it usually means tomorrow will be a heavy day.So
we played with the remaining animals tucked them in for the night and
prayed that tomorrow will be a good day.

Day three
Oct 12/08
We were called out to a Hobby farm outside of London. They had a litter
of seven kittens that someone had dropped off at the end of their
driveway and left for the owners cause they had a Hobby farm. The owners
had enough cats on their own and other animals. They gave us a tour of
their farm and what a blessing to see these animals being care for with
such grace. All the animals were friendly and had their own cute
characteristics that shone like bright stars. They wanted to keep the
kittens there until we could provide homes for them, but wanted us to
have them checked out for diseases and other health threats. They gave
us a large donation to assist with expenses. We took photos of all the
kittens and had them check out and gave them some vaccinations and
returned to the Hobby farm. All the kittens checked out fine. After
posting their photos and info we had three families who wanted
one. After their interviews we took them to the kittens.Generally when
they see the cute little critters they always want another needless to
say the three families wanted a buddy for there new pets so we were
left with only one kitten. The owners of the Hobby farm couldn't resist
and they took the last one a little girl .They decided to name her
after me I was honor.Today was a good day I would say... seeing it was
my Birthday finding homes for these little furry critters is the best
present I received.

Day two
Oct 11/08
Today was a sad day for us.The little female bull dog passed away over
night due to high fever and her injuries.I was called in at 4 am to
sign the legal papers to have her put down cause she was in just too
much pain.Unfortunately I got there too late she just didn't have any
strength left to fight. When animals are so weak and sick there is
always that glimmer of hope that they will find the strength to fight
back once we provide warmth, love and care. When one sees a animal dying
it's such an awaking for all to see. They appear to transform back to
their puppy stages in looks and behavior. This little girl just clung to
us for dear life. She is now back with the creator and hopefully taking
her journey back home. She passed away knowing that we were doing our
best to help her and she excepted our love and express such trust in
us.Well tomorrow is my Birthday and I'll see what the daylight brings
in.

Oct.!0 2008
Day 0ne
It always sadden my heart when I receive calls about stray or abandon
animals or neglected animals.Today I had to go and remove a beautiful
Bull dog approx. age 3 - 5 years old. This poor puppy was in dire need
of food and water .Besides being under nourished this poor puppy needs
some medical attention due to some sores that were probably small
originally but due to her living conditions her environment was very
poor and no one to tend to her injuries therefore they were severally
infected and she had a high fever.Having to remove an animal from it's
owners is always difficult.I see the pain in the owners and the fear of
uncertainty from the animals.I do not blame the owners who are having
money problems for the poor care of their pets or even their living
conditions. We go there to assist people who want our help.We do this
discreetly so that the owner doesn't have to go through anymore pain or
humiliation due to financial situations or for other reasons. We go to
mainly find homes and take care of their sick or unwanted pets. There
are good days when we just go to find a new home for these little
critters and the pet has come from a good environment it may be due to
work constrictions or a medical reason we don't ask questions .We
assure the owners that we will not put down any animal unless it for
medical purposes.I am very fortunate so far to date I have found homes
for 167 stray/abandon/neglected dogs and cats and a mule.To help these
beautiful creatures from Mother Earth is very gratifying and I sleep
better knowing that I have helped these furry little critters find a
safe place to live and be loved. We do follow ups in the first 3 mths
then 6 mths later if all is well we provide the new owners with
adoption papers and first year medical expenses.Today's little buddy
that I went to pick up,unfortunately it is not looking so good the poor
little gals is pretty ill ,hopefully with medical and loving care she
will bounce back. The good news is I have 5 families already interested
in bringing her home.Tomorrow is another day so I keep my spirits up
that she will be around in the morning when I go to check up on my new
furry friends. My day two challenge is to assist with some of the
medical attention that the night brings in tomorrow.
Peace-out
