Several months ago while participating in the 29 Day Giving Challenge, I posted a
blog about my commitment to donate a mandala painting to a local women's health clinic. I am happy to say that the mandala has been completed and is now mounted on the ceiling above the very exam table where I first imagined a mandala to be. I took it in to the clinic a couple of weeks ago and the doctors and nurses loved it. One doctor told me that all the women who would be on that examination table would be very grateful to have such a wonderful image to focus on – my intention exactly. Every time one of the doctors or nurses came into the room to see the mandala, I would tell the story of how my friend, Cami Walker, started the 29 Day Giving Challenge and how that inspired me to donate the mandala to the clinic. Everyone seemed intrigued. I attached a brochure holder to the wall of the examination room with little flyers that people could take with them with a picture of the mandala and a link to the 29 Day Giving Challenge. I talked to my doctor about getting mandalas into different medical venues and she thought it was a great idea. We’ll be brainstorming about that later and visiting the local hospital and also a hospice that she is the director of.
It has been a most rewarding and gratifying experience knowing that women will be calmed by the presence of this mandala as they go through uncomfortable procedures. And I am grateful to 29Gifts for giving me the inspiration to make it happen.
