My first day on this 29-Day Giving Challenge was yesterday. Although I did not have a "big give" in mind I made a conscious effort to "give" many simple things. So with that in mind I was careful to be pleasant while running errands. Always greeting those I came in contact with with a warm greeting, a smile and a pleasant farewell. (This was not all the difficult to do as I already try to do that always) While going by my husbands office we found one of his employees working on Saturday, she had one of her young daughters with her. My husband always keeps a jar of chocolate candies in his office so I asked the young girl if she would like some chocolates from "the Colonels" office. Her eyes lit up and after confirming with her mom that it was OK, I took her to Steve's office and she helped herself to some chocolates. I find that I am constantly thinking of new and different ways to give.
Today was my second day and again I was conscious to smile and say hello to those I pass on the street but my planned give was to increase my monetary gift at Church today which I did. But, better then that Steve and I had the opportunity, no honor, of taking the gifts up to the priest at the alter. So for me that was a very unexpected and unplanned gift but one I was pleased to do.
I look forward to tomorrow and what "gifts" I can give and what opportunities for giving present themselves to me. I kow that in the past there have been plenty of opportunities but I didn't recognize or respond to them. This 29-Days of Giving is making me more aware and ready to seize those opportunities.
Thanks Lisa for inviting me to give this a try:)
