29-Day Giving Challenge

As I mentioned in a blog post earlier today, this is Thank Your Mentor Day here in the U.S. This served as a great nudge to remind me to THANK my mentors.  I wish I did not need days like this to remember to say thank you to the many, many people who have helped me a long life's highway.  However, I think of these little nudges as road signs that help point the way.  Today i sent several notes to people who knowlingly or unknowingly have been mentors and role models in my life.  While words of appreciation are always important, I believe the best way I can thank my mentors is to "pass it on" and do my best to be a positive mentor to others.  This is one of the reasons that I participate in the mentor program at our local elementary school and volunteer as a Brownie Girlscout leader.  But you know what -- sometimes I wonder who is mentoring who -- I learn every bit as much (probably more) from the kids as they learn from me and I reap so much joy and love!

I believe that the teacher always learns from their students.  I know Kathy teaches me new things everyday.  I know your notes will be met with great appreciation.

Loved your blog, indeed we all learn from one another. It reminded me of a (small) book by Kay Pollak (Swedish film director). It's called No Chance Encounter and is about how we can all learn from (challenging) situations and one another.
