This morning my Daughter In Law called to tell me that one of my grand-nephews who is only 8 years old had suffered a burst apendix and had emergency surgery last night. My niece (his mom) and her family live in Maryland, far away from any extended family. She and her husband have 3 other young children. As soon as I heard the news I sent her an email message of support. This evening, I made a card for Jax and ordered him an activity gift from Amazon to do while he is recovering. I also Googled their town and found a nearby restaurant that delivers healthy meals and purchased a gift card for the family. I spoke with my Sister In Law (the boy's grandma) tonight and he came out of the surgery fine and is doing OK. My SIL is feeling badly that she is not able to make the trip to MD to help out because she has a special needs grandson whom she raises. I tried to reassure her that everything would be OK. Fortunately my nieces family belongs to a very supportive church and has friends that are reaching out to help.

I'm sure they will be taken care of...starting with you. I hate to be a negative, but my neighbor's 13 yr. olds' burst this summer and it was a long haul to recovery. Will pray and hope for better on your end.
