29-Day Giving Challenge

Not feeling very giving today. Someone stole my iPod Nano off my desk last night.
Don't think I gave anything yesterday, either. Will have to really think about it. (I'm doing this all wrong. Doing it like I used to do WW. Going about my day as usual then hoping later that it will squish into what I want it to be. This isn't the way to make change. This isn't healthy. All I'm doing is postponing my disgust until the end of the day, then adding a dose of guilt on top of it.)

I will have to come back to this... Oh wait, I just remembered I donated $25 to some local group that doesn't have enough food or money to feed the expected 20,000 homeless at the convention hall this year (Thanksgiving).

Thank you all for your comments! I had no idea I was going to receive gifts of inspiration and 'written hugs' each day! This is wonderful.
And, I must report, I found my Nano. (And quickly sent an email apologizing for insinuating it was stolen.)

I am so sorry your ipod was stolen, someone must have thought they needed it more than you. Very sad. Is WW weight watchers? If so I can understand that concept. You are supposed to enjoy the giving, but sometimes we are just not in a giving mood. I think thats thed point, to change our focus from ourselves to others, easier said then done, I know. Well I hope good things come your way soon. Tammy

Lotusgirl is so right about the "awareness" thing. Just the fact that you're in touch with your emotions instead of just coasting through the day on autopilot is a step up. After you start focusing on giving, you'll soon experience a shift in thinking that causes you to react differently to your circumstances. Trust me on this!

And hey, a $25 donation for a needy cause is not a bad start ok?

"Awareness" is huge. You are able to acknowledge you emotions, your humanness. Try not to judge yourself... feelings are feelings, they come and go.
Theft is such a violation. It hurts. However just maybe you can remind yourself that is is just a "thing". It can be replaced. Unfortunately you may need to keep things locked up, an unfortunate lesson.

Your not alone, we all feel like this at times. Hang in there. Isn't it amazing how we can be the hardest on ourselves? Make your gives small, a phone call, an email or cup of coffee. Good luck, don't give up yet.

sure, why would you feel giving when others are taking (stealing) from you? But then again, that's all the more reason to pass on a positive message for this world ...

I don't know if there's one right way to go about this challenge. I bet you really do give something every day .... just take time to reflect on it

those days when you think you haven't given or maybe aren't even feeling like giving might be good times to give to yourself

$25 that was a good gift! Don't be so hard on yourself - bummer about the iPOD to say the least. You did do something giving - the money will help feed those who are homeless. Good for you.
