29-Day Giving Challenge

But since I don't plan on stopping after day 29 I suppose it doesn't matter much. :) I have had a really great week....minus some squabbles with my hubby. I have been giving without even thinking about it...it just seems to happen naturally.

Some recent gives: nature walks with my babies (a gift for all of us), forgiveness (more than once), a shoulder to cry on (again, more than once), my toy drive at Christmas was approved ( I can't wait!), took my brother to an amazing little country kitchen for breakfast, made my friend a birthday cake, got a "you're going to be a big sister" gift for my friends daughter....just to name a few.

Some things that I have received lately: LOVE.....lots and lots of it!, smiles everywhere I go, forgiveness, lots of hugs and kisses from my babies, my husband got me a puppy for our anniversary (he's soooooooo cute), my toy drive got approved, quality time with my family (priceless), my dryer broke and my dad brought over a new one (he's the best!), my mom gave me peace on a day that wasn't going so well....she helped me smooth things over.

I did notice a few days ago that I was feeling really run down and kinda crabby. I figured out it's because I wasn't saying no to anything. If someone needed something (a favor....anything) I was saying yes without even hesitating. Needless to say it really depleted my energy and I felt exhausted! So I had to take a day for myself. I went for a long walk, did a little yoga, listened to nice music, got a pedicure and finished the day with a good book. Now, I am more careful about what I agree to and I am trying not to bite off more than I can chew. This has made a huge difference in my attitude and I am enjoying the whole process much more!

lots of great gives and receives...
Like your last paragraph, I do think it's important that we don't just say yes to everything ... we might end up feeling resentful for agreeing to do something. I recently read that if one has a hard time saying no it might be a good idea to try saying "I'll think about it." Then you can decide if it's really something you want to do.
