Yesterday I was looking over some quotes in my TellTale Souls material for an upcoming workshop and came across a poignant quote from Joyce Carol Oates in "Missing Mom."

when i was younger i had a strained relationship with my Mom. now i dread the day that that will become my story, too. i can't imagine life without my Mom. i don't see her often but she is always there for me.
you are right, Cindy, learning to say (and believe) "I couldn't have known" is a gift to ourselves, and one i am still working on. Hugs, Dawn

Dear Lynn - thank you for this. Learning to say "I couldn't have known" is actually a gift worth learning how to give to ourselves. It leads to a forgiveness of self, a recognition of our own humanity. Beautiful.
